![]() Luckily it is under warranty, but any thoughts or advice would be welcomed. If the level continues to drop slowly, what sort of things could be the cause? I know there are discussions about water pumps leaking on here? I can't see any leaks, but I'm not sure where to look. ![]() Two hours later, engine cold, the level is very slightly lower (but not much surprisingly) so sill about half way between min/max. Is it common for these cars to be low on coolant from the factory Today I got a low coolant warning, which is ridiculous on a car with only 14,000 miles on it. ![]() Today at work, parking with the engine hot, the coolant was still midway between min/max. I filled it to between min and max (about 0.6 l). Untwist cap on coolant tank (when cold) and let out the air pressure. Usually air pressure, forcing the level down, not a leak. If it needs topping up in the future, buy a 1L bottle from Eurocarparts for £2. Several hours later after parking I checked when cold, the level was just at the bottom of the expansion tank. Untwist cap on coolant tank (when cold) and let out the air pressure. I (carefully!) undid the top, pressure was released and the coolant level climbed to about minimum. ![]() Yesterday I got a low coolant level warning, came off the motorway. It had 13k miles when i bought it, 18k now, inspection service due in 4k miles. You might get air in the system at this point and depending on how fast it leaks you may or may not make it. First time it happened I did what it said and levels in the expansion tank were fine. Bring some with you, just in case and keep a close eye on the temp gauge. You can use distilled water to fill the coolant system for the drive to your mechanic. ![]()
